A Residential School for  Differently ABLED Persons

    -where the disABLED person has a unique opportunity!

Our Mission

We aim at mainstreaming the Visually Impaired  and Persons with additional disABILITIES and Training Resource Personnel to provide services for the disABLED. We have outreach vocational programs to help the families of the DisABLED.


Our Profile

The Divine Light Trust for the Blind was formed in 1958 as the first Non Government Organization (NGO) in the State of Karnataka. The primary purpose is Education and Rehabilitation of Persons with Visual Impairment .

At DLTB we :

  • Care for 75 children on campus
  • Integrate 100 children into regular schools
  • Provide services for about 400 disabled persons in and around the Whitefield area of Bangalore

The Trust has achieved  several milestones that are outlined in the History Page. The current activities of the Trust can be outlined as under:

  • Preparing and integrating of children with visual impairment, low vision, hearing impairment and mental retardation into regular educational streams.
  • Services for Children with Multiple DisABILITIES.
  • Computer Training for the Visually & Hearing Impaired.
  • Training in Horticultural  and Tailoring  for the DisABLED.
  • Out Reach programs (Parent training) for Families of Children with Multiple DisABILITIES
  • Teacher training program -' Multi Category Teacher Training' for training resource personnel to work with disABLED persons.
  • Programs for prevention of disability and health care.

  • Services for DisABLED persons in Whitefield such as medical intervention, coordination to get benefits under the Government schemes.

The trust is funded through Government Aid (10%), self funding from own resources (30%) and  through private donations (60%). The trust depends mainly on donations to Implement its Services..

The future plans of the trust are to develop into a Training, Rehabilitation and Research center for the services of Persons with disABILITIES.
